The PortaMate PM-7000 Pro WorkCenter not only functions as an excellent miter saw stand, it can also be used as workstation for a number of bench-top tools, such as portable planers, small band saws, scroll saws and more. Features a quick-mount attachment, outlet power center, storage compartment, extensions that support 16ft. workpieces, adjustable worklight and much more. Blade Diameter (in.): 8, Laser Guide: No, Dimensions L x W x H (in.): 10 x 11 1/2 x 66 1/2
There’s no denying the immense popularity of the power miter saw. It has pushed the radial-arm saw to the brink of extinction, and become an indispensable tool for professional contractors and do-it-yourselfers alike. However, to get the most out of your power miter saw, you must get it up off the floor and mount it to a sturdy saw stand.

At first glance, the Portamate PM7000 Miter Saw and Power Tool Work Center might just look like a fancy sawhorse, but look closer and you’ll discover one of the best portable saw stands on the market. The ruggedly built aluminum stand measures 33 inches tall by 67 inches wide, but it expands to an impressive 9 foot, 8 inches for cutting long moldings, siding or deck boards. The saw attaches to the stand’s horizontal rail via a pair of universal mounts. In fact, the mounts can be used to attach other compact benchtop tools, such as a drill press, scroll saw, band saw, or thickness planer.

Other user-friendly features include a four-outlet power strip, 8-inch-diameter wheel for easy mobility, convenient storage compartment and three adjustable work supports that have fold-down rollers. The stand’s four legs fold up for storage or for easy transport. And if all that weren’t enough, it comes with two invaluable, add-on accessories: a flexible worklight and a heavy-duty cast-aluminum bench vise.

The PM7000 combines useful features and unmatched versatility, with industrial-quality construction and competitive pricing. Bottom line: If you own a power miter saw you’ve got to get this work center. -- Joseph Truini

"Still finding uses for this stand" 2010-05-29
By M. Costantini
I purchased this Portamate stand over a year ago and could not be happier with it. I have replaced thoes floor standing roller stands with it and I use it with a variety of portable shop tools. To make mounting different tools easier, I had a 22" x 20" piece of 3/4" MDF left over from some project, so I mounted it to the machine mounts provided with the Portamate, that gave me a large enough table to set my Dewalt planer on. I also set my sliding coumpound miter saw and my scroll saw on this same table. Sometimes you just need a small work table at the right height and it is excellent for this too. When the table top becomes worn you just need to replace it. I used carriage bolts to attach it so no bolt heads are in the way when sliding different tools into place. The Portamate stand is very sturdy, the vise is convienent and the light is an excellent addition for direct lighting when setting depth of cut on the planer. It stores easily when folded up and easily rolls against a wall out of the way. If you are contemplating buying some type of work station, I would highly recommend the Portamate.

 "a good stand" 2010-04-27
By The carpenter (Alberta, Canada)
I just received the portamate miter saw stand and while assembling it, I realized no nuts or bolts were supplied. The box was extremely beat up but the stand (aside from a few cosmetic pieces) proved to survive the transport. Rather than wait for parts I decided to get them from local businesses. The stand itself is pretty good, except the extensions in my opinion are not that strong. I like the light and vise so that is where it is better than an average stand. I probably would have been just as well off to have bought one locally that I could have inspected in person. I'm sure once I build a few extensions, the stand will be fine.

"OK but has design issues" 2010-02-18
By Seadog (Kaneohe, Hawaii)
I use this work center for my miter saw. It is a pretty good stand for general construction but not for accurate finish work.

I did have a problem when an insert in the end of the unit broke. I called the company and the gal told me she would send me a replacement piece and commented on how difficult it is to replace the piece. When I received the replacement piece (without instructions) and installed it I found out what she meant and also why it broke. There is a design flaw that if you pull the extension out too far it will crack the insert. The entire end of the work center needs to be disassembled to replace the piece and I had to use some specialty tools (like a 12" needlenose pliers) and some ingenuity to replace the broken part.

"Lots of gadgets no quality falling apart while taking out of the box" 2009-12-24
By Richard Wharton
I just recently purchased the pm7000.. I am a general contractor that mostly works on churches around the country. I saw this at a harware store and like several of the features that this stand has. I decided to try it and purchased the stand here on amazon.. I have just returned from my first job using the stand.. right out of the box the plastic end caps where the extension arms come out where cracked on both sides.. by day two one had fallen out. every time I move the stand the plastic inserts on the miter saw holders fell out.. and today when I went to take the saw off of the stand the clamp handle to remove the saw broke off in my hand.. If I had realized how much plastic was holding this thing together I probably wouldn't have purchased the stand.. it does have some great features but what good are they if it's broke... I used the stand for 5 days and cut a total of 40 2x4's and a couple of 1x4's over the course of the week.. very light work for me, many of the jobs that i work on we cut thousands of boards over the course of a few weeks, I will not be taking this stand with me on any of those jobs as it would probably be useless after the first day of hard labor... don't buy this stand it's junk.... even if your a homeowner and don't want to spend a lot of money... but the ryobi before this.... use a couple of saw horses instead.. save your money... anyone want a slightly used portamate? :{

"broken ext. arms on both my portamate's" 2009-11-02
By Timothy Rozenboom (HI USA)
I own 2 portamate 7000 and was attracted to the cool power strip incorporated into the stand. on both of them the extension arms have broke. On both sides! Also there is alot of play or flex in the flip up stops which makes them inaccurate. this product is not worth the money.
