"Great first set of clamps" 2009-12-29
By Chad R. Webb (Benson, AZ USA)
I've used bar clamps before, but now it was finally time to get my own set. I'm thrilled with this set - they are SO easy to adjust. I find myself using the smallest sizes in place of my old C-clamps. The only thing lacking in the set is several 48" clamps (only goes up to 36"), but aside from that it's a great starter set of quality clamps.

Having read the other reviews, and having ordered around Christmas time, I was FULLY expecting my set to arrive in thrashed boxes, and possibly having to deal with damaged clamps. Much to my surprise, the shipment came in two manageable boxes, and not abused at all, although after looking at the packaging, it was due mainly to careful handling.

 "bessy clamps" 2009-05-27
By Randy Pederson
This was a product well worth the money and worth the wait. I was a little concerned from other reveiws on the shipping issue but that
was not a problem when it arrived. The boxes were in perfect
condition! Also my hats off to the ups driver who carryed it up
my steep 100 ft drive way! [...] Over all the whole process was flawless
and very smooze. Thanx again!

"Best bang for the buck" 2007-11-24
By J. Verlanic (Colstrip, MT)
This is by far one of the most complete clamp sets available today. Very good quality. Works really well with Bowclamps and is a great addition to the K-Body clamps. This is the set to buy if you are just starting or need to replace your clamps with others.

 "The best shop clamps" 2007-09-03
By Tool Junkie (Evergreen State - North of Seattle)
I bought these from Amazon in Sept. '06.

These are true fast action clamps. The action was patented - doesn't use the clutch disks/bars. You just tip the head and slide. Great all around set to start out a woodworking hobby with. Amazon obviously has read the posts about the lousy packaging, but they didn't fix the problem. My two boxes of clamps came inside one large box. I don't think I've ever seen so much tape on a box. Yet it still was trashed when it got to my doorstep. The box weighed like 80#+. Inside were the two smaller boxes and a bunch of air pads that had gone flat. The boxes were opened to find the clamps. The clamps had the pads knocked off, some of the paint chipped and some of the grips scraped and scratched. Moved too much during shipping again.

However, the clamps are the best ones of their type on the market and you can't go wrong with the deal I got thru Amazon!

I used a bunch of Jorgensen bar clamps with clutches this past year (in a woodworking school). I found them to be more fussy than Tradesmen clamps.

I have a bunch of Bessey K body clamps (30+) that I bought before I got this set. They are much heavier to get to and from my clamp racks to my projects. I now find that I use my Trademen clamps more than any other clamps in my shop. Easy to adjust and I get a tremendous amount of pressure if needed. One point to consider though - the bars on these are not as heavy duty as the ones on the K Body clamps. That's why the K Bodies can get almost double the pressure of these. Another thing is that you will get visible deflection on the bars when in use over a longer span. For instance, if you really need no flex over 30"+ on a glue up, go with a K Body. It hasn't been an issue for me, as I can just throw in a couple of K Body clamps to keep things parallel and then use the Trademen clamps for extra holding power.

To give you an idea of how much I really liked these clamps: After a year of using them, I went out and purchased two more sets of them (Sept. '07)

Amazon seems to have addressed the shipping problems (different carriers). Three of the boxes arrived in what looked like pristine condition - the clamps were even set into a certain kind of packing order inside the boxes.

However, the fourth box was trashed. Obviously not Amazons fault, as the packing slip was inside the box - with the clamps (instead of in a packing slip envelope attached to the outside, like the other three boxes). This box had been shredded and every inch was covered in packing tape to hold it shut. The clamps were smashed up, with some bent bars and paint chipped off. I called Amazon and they took care of me. Offered to have the clamps picked up and a new box shipped. But the clamps are almost bullet proof, so... Instead of this, I had them give me a small credit. I just bought some paint and re-painted the heads. Outstanding service from Amazon and an outstanding product.

I'm even thinking of buying a fourth set..........
